Diary of an Ex Oil Worker

Life After Petrotrin

About…

This Blog

This blog evolved from the closure of Petrotrin, the state-owned oil company in Trinidad and Tobago. I worked there for nine years. In this blog, I share my life after Petrotrin. Topics vary from everyday experiences to heavy stuff (like managing a chronic illness).

I hope you find something worth reading!

Satira

I come from a callaloo, a soup of cultures that mix and mingle indiscriminately. I speak in English, but my songs are Indian, and the rhythm of my music is African. My Spanish food has a French name. I know coconut and mangoes and guavas, doubles and pastelles and cassavas. I roam among ixora and hibiscus and bougainvillea; hummingbirds and mosquitoes and iguanas. I celebrate Divali and Ramadhan, Christmas and Carnival. I share my home with the Scarlet Ibis and Cocrico. I live in the Caribbean sunshine on the isles of Trinidad and Tobago.
